Hoorah, finally the holidays are here. Two and a half weeks and no work, no having to get up at 6 am, no arguing students and no more watching the clock (well not much anyway). Tomorrow I am off to Mali. To travel to West Africa has always been a dream of mine, and there is no easier time to do it than while living in Morocco. Mali is a direct flight just over 3 hours away, plus you can get a visa here in Rabat. If I was in Australia, it would be a 40 hour flight and I would have to send to Japan to get the visa. Going from one Moslem country to another, I don't envisage much of a Christmas celebration but I'm sure the sights, history, villages and travel will more than make up for it. Food? I'll have to wait and see.
Maybe I'll have the opportunity to post while I am there but I'm not sure about the availability of the internet, especially since ATMs are few and far between. Sounds as though technology is still on the way.
My cameras are packed, books to read and a few clothes complete the backpack. This time tomorrow I'll be on the way to the airport.
A Merry Christmas to all those left behind.
